The Tanganyika Committee was renamed Tanzania Committee in 1964, when Tanganyika became Tanzania. In 1967, after its organization as a separate standing body, the U.S.A. National Committee of the Lutheran World Federation (USANC) participated in this committee. From 1947-1966, the National Lutheran Council's (NLC) Executive Committee served as the USANC.
